New brew in town: Mountain Mudd

Fritz, however, says there is room for Mountain Mudd. In fact, he hopes to open at least four kiosks in Kalispell and one in Whitefish.Fritz already is awaiting approval for a third drive-through. If approved, it will open in Kalispell by the end of April. His first pair of kiosks opened on the 13th anniversary of the original Mountain Mudd drive-through, which Fritz's sister-in-law Brenda Burkhartsmeier began March 17, 1994, in Billings. It relies primarily on word-of-mouth advertising, a tactic that has proven successful thus far, Fritz said.Since the original Mountain Mudd opened more than a decade ago, the company has exploded. There are 75 drive-throughs across the nation, 16 in Billings alone. The business is self-branded; Mountain Mudd has its own espresso, chocolate, syrup, paper products and merchandise.Last year, the company began a partnership with Cenex Harvest States, a Fortune 200 company.

LOCAL: Coffee, clean clothes a possible combo in Fowlerville

OK, it might not be the most logical combination, but Howell-based Snedicor's Cleaners and Colorado Coffee Co. are hoping their unique partnership will pay dividends at the latter company's Fowlerville location, near Fowlerville Road and the Interstate 96 interchange.

Customers will get two nylon express bags with their first order. Orders can be dropped off inside the coffee shop, or through the drive-through. The orders will be done in two days and available for pickup at the coffee shop.

Snedicor's will even buy each customer a cup of coffee with their first order.

Snedicor's owner Jim Gilligan said the move will be beneficial to Fowlerville, as it currently does not have a drycleaners.

Court rules to stop Ohio execution; state appeals

CINCINNATI (AP) - The day before a scheduled execution, a federal appeals court ruled Monday to block Ohio from putting to death a man who killed a woman, cut her up and scattered her remains across two states.

Ohio prison workers still prepared for the execution of Kenneth Biros, 48, because the state appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court seeking a ruling to allow the lethal injection. By late Monday, the high court had not addressed the matter.
